Progress and Gifts

August 7, 2010

I know other bloggers labor over their titles but i really don't pay much attention to that when I read blogs so I apologize in advance for my lame titles.  Anything that would delay my blogging would mean that I would never do it at all.

Here is what I have been working on~

A scrap quilt for my almost here niece.  Her momma is doing turquoise for the walls.  I promptly told her that I had read that turquoise is the color of 2010.  She didn't really acknowledge that comment but i am sure she was impressed that i knew that little fact.  Who wouldn't be, right?

I had recently organized all my scraps according color.  They were such a heaping mess and i had to do something.  I was pretty excited that i was able to get this cute quilt out of them since i was on the verge of just throwing them all out.  It seems I would have to make about ten more quilts to make a serious dent in the scraps but I still consider this progress!

I started to machine quilt but my skills were lacking so I just did this cute little knot trick.

I am happy with the results.  I hope baby and momma like it too.  My great aunt made me a baby quilt that I still have around so I have this fantasy that she will think of old Aunt VA when she is an adult and maybe then appreciate my efforts!

Also I am making lunch boxes.  I get so many requests to make these and now I finally have some listed in the shop.  I love the them!  This time i used insulbrite for the lining and just cotton for the interior.

I have to send one out to Utah to be on TV for an NBC affiliate morning show through youcanmakethis.com.   I like these but I am wishing I could choose one that really stood out.  Maybe more sewing before Monday when I have to send it!
