Butterfly Emerges & Gifts for Girls

My talented sister in law gave us 4 monarch caterpillars about 12 days ago and the first one emerged from the cocoon.  She has had many of these go into cocoons and come out as a butterfly but this is our first.  It truly was amazing!  All 5 of us were in awe.

It doesn't fly for awhile so we let it crawl over our hands.  I then placed it on the dill in the garden where it stayed for about 24hours.

My nieces had a birthday on August 3rd and August 9th.  I am giving the 6 year old this, and made a notebook slipcover for the 11year old.

IMG_5946     It's nice to make things from my own patterns.  I am so used to always trying new things that I mess up so easily that to make a sure thing feels so good.  Hope they like their gifts!
